Who makes the best gourmet burger?

If you’re a red blooded, meat eating American odds are you love a good burger; I know I do. Enjoying a big juicy burger with an ice cold beer or glass of milk is both comforting and gratifying, and is as Americana as Baseball, Apple Pie and John Wayne. The term hamburger comes from Hamburg Germany, Germany’s 2nd largest city, and the first time “hamburger” appeared on a US menu was 1826 in Delmonico’s of New York.

If you enjoy stuffing your belly with a delicious, greasy, heart stopping, oversized hamburger smothered in cheese, bacon, lettuce, pickles, tomato, ketchup, onion rings, jalapeno’s, mayo, fried egg, whatever….there’s no doubt you’re thrilled at the blitz of new burger joints that have flooded the US over the past 18 months. The hamburger segment – both limited and full service – is a monster segment in the restaurant industry. In fact, after years of solid growth the limited service hamburger industry now boasts over $65 Billion in annual revenue in the United States.

So, now that we have all of these amazing burger spots, who makes the best Burger? Is it the Sweet and Spicy Burger at The Grind in Phoenix, AZ, which was recently voted one of the Top 10 best new burger spots by Bon Appetite magazine? Is it the Double Double Animal Style from trusty old In N Out Burger? What about The Big Oak at Madison Wisconsin’s Oakcrest Tavern near Camp Randall stadium? Does Portillo’s in Chicago or The Shake Shack in New York serve the best hamburger? What about the sliders at Chicago Hamburger Co. in Phoenix, AZ?

Who makes the best burger?

My finely tuned, acute hamburger taste buds enjoy the double bacon cheeseburger from The Original Wineburger at 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Phoenix, AZ the most. In my opinion, this burger is the best burger in Arizona and beats the burgers at Phoenix City Grill, Houston’s, Chelsea’s, Deluxe, SmashBurger, Five Guys, everywhere. You can also enjoy a huge goblet of ice cold Dale’s Pale Ale, an award winning, hoppy pale ale brewed at the Oskar Blues Brewery in Colorado. In addition to serving delicious burgers since 1945, The Original Wineburger also offers beer battered fried zucchini strips, French fries, cheese curds that’d make a Green Bay Packer fan proud and a delicious fish fry. For those that don’t care about swim suit season, give the Angosaurus Rex a try! This burger is 1 and 1/3 pounds and costs $16.00!
